What's New in Version
6.05 (12/6/2004)
- Updated to work with the latest
TerraServer changes. TerraServer access
was broken in all previous v6.xx releases
on about December 2nd, 2004 when a minor
change was made by the TerraServer team.
- Reduced the memory usage of SRTM HGT
files to allow much larger chunks of SRTM
data to be loaded. Now several thousand
HGT files can be loaded simultaneously.
- Added support for loading Moss/Genio
format files.
- Added support for loading Geosoft Grid
format files.
- Added support for loading interlaced PNG
files.
- Added support for exporting loaded
elevation data to Geosoft Grid format
files. (Registered Version Only)
- Allowed Generic ASCII Text files to be
loaded through the normal File->Open
Data File mechanism in addition to through
the Open Generic ASCII Text file
mechanism.
- Allowed the load of Generic ASCII Text
files to be canceled.
- When exporting to the CSV format, make
the elevation value the third column
(immediately after the coordinates) if
exported. Also include the feature
description as a column. (Registered
Version Only)
- Allowed transparent color values in a
script file to be specified by palette
index in addition to RGB color value. (Registered
Version Only)
- Improved connection of contour lines
generated by Global Mapper, resulting in
more closed contours where possible.
- Fixed shrinkage of loaded ECW files by
one pixel on the right and bottom sides.
- Made the first vertex of a feature be
colored green and the last vertex colored
red when a line or area feature is
selected in the Digitizer Tool and
polyline vertex display is enabled. This
allows you to determine the direction that
the polyline goes.
- Made the export of attribute values to
DBF and Shapefiles be case-insensitive so
that you don't get multiple attribute
fields with names that are identical
except for case (i.e. LONGITUDE and
Longitude). (Registered Version Only)
- Fixed DBF attribute loading. In previous
versions the attributes assigned to a DBF
point were those for the previous feature
in the DBF file.
- Made minor tweaks to Moss file export to
make the generated Moss file more
compatible with other software packages.
Also made the elevation of features be
saved to Moss files rather than the
feature classification number. (Registered
Version Only)
- Fixed problems loading Arc ASCII Grid
files with more than about 65000
characters per line (this is usually
around six or seven thousand samples per
row).
- Significantly sped up the import of Arc
ASCII Grid files.
- Made interplanetary datums be recognized
when reading PRJ files.
- When loading generic ASCII files, make
the coordinate order setting be remembered
between dialog invocations.
- When loading generic ASCII files, make
the coordinate order setting be remembered
between dialog invocations.
- Fixed bug introduced in v6.04 that
prevented changing the display label field
to "No Name Field" from working
for Shapefiles in the Options dialog
accessible from the Control Center.
- Fixed bug introduced in v6.04 that
prevented the loading of Arc Binary Grid
files that are missing a prj.adf file or
have a prj.adf file that Global Mapper
does not recognize.
- Fixed problems with reading some Lambert
projections from ECW files that were
introduced in the v6.04 release.
