What's New in Version 6.02 (9/13/2004)

  • Added support for loading ADRG format files.

  • Added support for loading waypoint, track, and route data from GPX (GPS eXchange Format) files.

  • Added support for editing the name, type, and drawing style of multiple selected features at a time in the Digitizer tool (previously only a single feature could be edited at a time).

  • Added support for using vector features with elevation when performing a view shed analysis.

This allows you to add things like buildings, fence lines, trees, etc. and have them be used when generating your view sheds. (Registered Version Only)

  • Added support for rectifying vector layers from the Overlay Control Center (this is a right-click option just as it is for raster layers).

  • Added support for editing and deleting vector features from the Search by Name dialog.

  • Added support for exporting loaded vector data to the Arc Ungenerate format. (Registered Version Only)

  • Added support for exporting loaded point and line data to GPX (GPS eXchange Format) files. (Registered Version Only)

  • Added support for saving and restoring a view under the View menu. This will allow you to save a viewport, then move around the map looking at stuff, then return to your saved point.

  • Corrected hill shading for elevation grids whose elevation samples are not in meters.

  • Made small gaps between raster files and in downloaded TerraServer data be filled in when exporting the data to new files. (Registered Version Only)

  • Reduced memory requirements when creating high-resolution screen captures and when exporting vector data to raster formats like GeoTIFF, JPG, etc. (Registered Version Only)

  • Significantly reduced memory usage when exporting a large area of TerraServer data. (Registered Version Only)

  • Significantly reduced memory usage when exporting multiple MrSID files. (Registered Version Only)

  • Added support for the Gauss Krueger, Eckert IV, and Gall Stereographic projections.

  • Added option under the GPS menu to allow changing the color of the vessel.

  • Added display of the PDOP and the number of satellites used in a GPS solution on the GPS information page when that information is available.

  • Made GPS velocity and bearing information be used from units that only output GPGGA and GPVTG NMEA sentences.

  • Added option to GPS setup to specify an offset value to add to all elevations to allow them to match up with other maps.

  • Added support for loading the ETOPO5 data set.

  • Added support for loading position information from TAB files for PNG images.

  • Added option to only generate metadata files like TAB and world files when performing batch conversions. This provides an easy and fast way to create metadata files for a lot of images for use in other software that requires such files. (Registered Version Only)

  • Fixed problems with exported 32-bit vertical GeoTIFF files that have negative elevation values. (Registered Version Only)

  • Made handling of errors when exporting to GeoTIFF format more graceful. (Registered Version Only)

  • Corrected export to Arc ASCII Grid format with non-whole elevation units, like decimeters and centimeters. (Registered Version Only)

  • Made additional digits of elevation precision be written to Arc ASCII Grid files with small elevation ranges. (Registered Version Only)

  • Corrected the Pulkovo 1942 datum transformation. It was off by a few meters from the official transformation.

  • Corrected the PERIMETER attribute for area features to include the length of the segment connected the first and last point.

  • Keep DXF attributes defined after all features as their own point features.

  • Reduced the memory required to store features loaded with the File->Open Generic ASCII Data File menu command.

  • Added option to specify the JPG quality setting when batch converting to JPG format files. (Registered Version Only)

  • Made color intensity modification (i.e. lighten or darken) work for TerraServer data.

  • Added ability to generate iso-height areas and min/max elevation points when using the GENERATE CONTOURS script command. (Registered Version Only)

  • Fixed crash on some systems at the end of the contour generation process.

  • Added automatic recognition of DRGs in the Oregon Lambert projection if they have a USGS standard filename.

  • Fixed loading of TerraServer DRG files from Alaska.

  • Fixed crash when loading an invalid JPG file.

  • Fixed problems with loading and properly positioning some CADRG and CIB files.

  • Fixed problems with point features just outside of the specified export bounds sometimes being exported when creating new vector files. (Registered Version Only)

  • Made most state plane projections be saved when exporting ECW files. (Registered Version Only)

  • Fixed problems with grid lines not being saved to exported raster files (i.e. GeoTIFF, JPG, etc) if no other vector data is loaded. (Registered Version Only)

  • Improved progress display during lengthy operations when capturing the screen to a high-resolution image or exporting vector data to a raster format like GeoTIFF or JPG. (Registered Version Only)
