Description: VPF Vector Product Format is a standard data format, structurally organized for geographic databases, intended for direct use based on a georelational data model.
VPF designed to be compatible with a wide variety of applicable vector format viewers, such as our powerful Global Mapper GIS mapping 3D software, while reading vector based format directly without conversion to an intermediate form. Product specification corresponding to a specific VPF geodatabase product determines the precise contents of feature tables and their relationships in the database. Vector Product Format easily uses tables and indexes permitting direct access by spatial location and thematic content designed where any digital geographic data in vector format to be represented using faces, edges, and nodes. VPF defines the vector file format of data objects, and the georelational data model provides a data organization within which software can manipulate the VPF data objects. Vector Product Format files are commonly used by GIS mapping users for vector data sets such as VMAP (Vector Map of the World) and DNC (Digital Nautical Chart). To load a VPF database, in our Global Mapper v6.00 and above, either select the dht file at the root of the VPF database tree or select the lht file at a lower level to load just one coverage from the database (the latter option is usually useful for DNC charts).
