VMAP Vector World Map: VMAP level 0 or Vector World Map formerly known as Digital Chart of the World-DCW is improved and updated from the National Imagery and Mapping Agency's (NIMA) which is supported by our 3D GIS mapping software Global Mapper.
The VMAP Level 0 database consisting of textual, attribute, and geographic data allows viewing vector-based geospatial data of worldwide coverage based on 1:1,000,000 scale Operational Navigation Chart (ONC) series. Military mapping authorities of the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia co-produced more than 1,800 megabytes of vector data organized into 10 thematic layers that's available on four CD-ROM's.
The Vector World Map or DCW geographic area coverage is divided into four libraries: - North America
- Europe and North Asia
- South America, Africa, and Antarctica
- South Asia and Australia
VMAP Level 0 database includes: - major road and rail networks
- major airports
- utility networks
- hydrologic drainage systems
- elevation contours
- coastlines
- international boundaries
- populated places
- geographic names index
VMAP Level 0 is accessible directly from the CD-ROM or transferred to your computer systems hard drive and widely utilized in many professional geographic information system (GIS) applications such as our Global Mapper. To load a VPF database, in Global Mapper v6.00 and above, either select the dht file at the root of the VPF database tree or select the lht file at a lower level to load just one coverage from the database (the latter option is usually useful for DNC Charts). |
