JPEG2000 Description:
Stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group
(JPEG 2000) which is
a relatively
new technology based around wavelet-based
compression and bit-plane coding.
It
enables scalability
with respect to five different defined image
progression orders in a very highly compressed
yet high quality manner, similar to the ECW
and MrSID formats.

The
original JPEG was developed over 15 years
ago and with image distortion and even loss
of data, the JPEG committee felt time had
