| JPEG Image World File | JPEG Description: Stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group which our GIS mapping 3D software Global Mapper supports. JPEG is used for the collection, storage and delivery of several GIS applications and remote sensing systems.
With the appropriate World File (typically with a JPGW extension), a JPEG image may be positioned geographically in Global Mapper (try it with our Free Download). A prime example of this is the satellite photos freely available from TerraServer. These images can be saved along with an appropriate JPGW for later viewing. While other compression and file format techniques have become popular because of greater efficiency of storing and accessing large images such as JPEG2000 which is the latest series of standards from the JPEG committee. Available for free? Yes. Web Pages and FTP Sites: | Check other Supported Formats of our Gis Mapping Software Download the Free Version of our Gis Mapping Software | |
