Description: The ASPRS LIDAR LAS binary format conforming to the ASPRS LIDAR data exchange format standard named with an LAS extension are used for storing 3D point data, supported by our 3D GIS mapping software Global Mapper, which combines IMU, GPS, and laser pulse range data to produce X, Y, and Z point data.
ASPRS LIDAR intended to provide open data formats for allowing a variety of software vendors to create LAS files referred to as generating software or user software for reading and writing to the LAS files such as our Global Mapper gis mapping software. Our 3D GIS mapping software Global Mapper v6.07 and higher can directly import this binary file format that's not complex but still maintains your specific information and view it either as an elevation-colored point cloud or a 3D surface. The Binary Data Format consisting of: Public Header Block: File Signature, GUID data 1-4, Version Major and Minor, etc. Variable Length Records: Record Signature, User ID and Record ID, Record Length After Header, etc. Point Data: X, Y, Z, Intensity, Scan Direction Flag, Edge of Flight Line, Classification, etc.
